SURFACE PREPARATION :

NEW STEEL:

The surface should be cleaned, free from oil, grease and other contaminants.  It should be grit blasted to Sa 2 ½.  If sandblasting is not possible, wire brushing or cold phosphate is recommended.  The temperature of the substrate should be min. 100C and 30C min. above the dew point of the air.  All damage of shop primer and contaminants from storage and fabrication should be thoroughly cleaned prior to final painting.

OTHER METALS, GALVANIZED STEEL AND ALLOYS:

Thorough degreasing and light are abrasive to remove all contamination and to provide proper adhesion.

PVC PLASTIC:

The surface to be primed must be cleaned thoroughly with a suitable solvent to ensure that no traces of compound that will interfere in the adhesion of the primer.  If possible. Light sanding is required to attain a better anchorage.

MAINTENANCE:

Remove all traces of oil, grease and other contaminants.  Remove salt and other foreign matters by high-pressure freshwater, remove all loose debris and laitance by abrasive of by power tool blasting.  Touch up full film thickness.
